It happens to everyone: sex becomes routine or passionless. It does not have to be this way! In fact, it’s easy to get that tingle back by trying simple ideas to generate new excitement.

1. Sex 911. That’s right, declaring a “sexual emergency.” Text your partner and tell him that you’re looking forward to having sex ASAP and only he can put out the fire. Send a text that says “Something’s Burning!” The next: “It’s me!” The next one: “Put out the fire as soon as possible!” Humor can be a fun way to initiate sex.

2. Use a small display of affection in public. Whisper something mean in your partner’s ear in the supermarket checkout line. Pet him while you’re stuck in a traffic jam. Put your hand on her thigh during dinner with friends. Don’t overdo it or you may anger your partner.

3. Create a new role. If he’s normally aggressive in bed, play the shy ignoramus who needs to be taught how to respond to his partner’s sexual advances. If you’re normally a bit inhibited, make yourself your favorite sexually safe TV or movie star for the night.

4. Put some light on the subject. If you normally keep the lights off during sex, for crying out loud, turn them on! Looking at your partner’s body and letting your body be seen during sex is very exciting. If you feel bad about your body, learn to accept yourself as you are, cover yourself up a bit (put a sheet over those dimpled thighs) or do something about it, like eat better or exercise.

5. Now look. Keep your eyes open during sex. Watch your partner’s face as they respond to your movements. Observe your own body as your partner touches it. Not only will you enjoy sex more, but you will feel closer to each other if you look into each other’s eyes during sex.

Watch? Good sex is much easier than you think!
