I received an email recently about how the doctor found great results in reducing a child’s nighttime cough by rubbing Vicks Vapor Rub on his feet, then putting his socks on and letting him go to bed. Now this email said that not only were they getting good results, but the Vicks technique was working 100% of the time. Hmmmm, time to try

I have a small child and now that we are entering the cold season I thought I would have the opportunity to try this method. Well, the doctors were right. One night I woke up to my son coughing constantly as he slept. Remembering the email I received a few days earlier, I decided to give Vicks a try. I went to his room and started applying Vicks. Now, my son is a very sound sleeper and he will sleep through anything, so applying Vicks to his feet didn’t even begin to wake him up from his deep sleep. I tell you this because the results were incredible. After applying the Vicks, but before the socks were on, I noticed his coughing lessen and his breathing deeper. He wanted to think that this was because he had woken him up and he just wasn’t coughing ‘at the time’. That was not the case. He literally had completely stopped coughing.

I went to bed that night and my son asked me over breakfast how the socks got on his feet in the middle of the night…I didn’t even know.

The skeptic that I am was amazed, but still thought it was just luck. Needless to say, a couple of nights later, my son was coughing after a long Halloween night. I immediately went for the Vicks Vapor Rub. Once again the coughing stopped with the application. I can’t believe how well it works, but I wanted to share it with other parents knowing that a good night’s sleep is gold.
