There has been a lot of talk about the iPhone Porn since it was released to the mainstream market. Recently, at the AVE awards convention in Las Vegas, several industry leaders commented on how they see the iPhone as “the” next adult media platform. There has been talk of all kinds, including free delivery of adult content in exchange for you to see promotional materials.

However, it seems that Steve Jobs wants to end pornography on the iPhone. At Apple’s press conference earlier this month this statement was released:

But Apple’s plan has restrictions that will likely still ensure that the illicit world of “released” apps continues to exist. During his presentation, Steve Jobs showed a slide with six categories of applications that will not be allowed: “Pornography, privacy, bandwidth hog, illegal, malicious” and “unforeseen”. Although Apple didn’t go into detail, that likely means that “bandwidth hogging” peer-to-peer apps are out of the way, along with anything Apple believes might violate media copyrights.

What does this mean for the adult industry? Nothing at the moment. Not surprisingly, Apple tries to strictly control what is developed for the iPhone in the foreseeable future. Of course, if history serves us well, it won’t be long before the closely guarded SDK is all over the place and you have rogue developers tossing all sorts of goodies for your iPhone.

The iPhone is the largest device to be released to the general public since the personal computing revolution in the early 1980s. Millions of them are already being sold and the price will continue to drop. It won’t be long before the iPhone is part of the normal “free phone with contract” promotions. Having a device in the palm of your hand that gives you as much connectivity as a laptop or desktop is a huge step forward in mobile communications. Right now, millions of people have the iPhone, yet most of the people don’t. The iPhone has also spawned a new generation of smartphones. Since AT&T has an exclusive contract with the iPhone for the first 5 years, other carriers are struggling to develop devices that offer similar functionality.

Sooner or later, Apple will be forced to allow more people to access its SDK, so the prospect of adult entertainment being a big player in mobile communications content is simply unavoidable. Similar to how VHS removed adult entertainment from theaters, the iPhone will put such content in the hands of anyone who chooses to watch it. I am sure that if you put your imagination to work you will see how such a medium is almost perfect for the adult industry.

If history has taught us something, it is inevitable that it will be repeated. I can see a whole new set of high-profile smut traces fueling adult iPhone content. This is probably the number one factor that makes Steve Jobs so outspoken on the subject.

In the meantime, enjoy the content on your family-friendly iPhone. For those who want something a little spicier in the realm of iPhone porn, your wait time won’t be long.
