How to find the rhythm in a race is crucial for the greyhound handicap. Many people think that it is impossible to predict what the pace of a race will be, but they are wrong. While you won’t likely be able to pinpoint the exact time of the race, you should be able to get a good idea.

Watch the dogs in the race and mark the ones that come out of the box first and then are also first in the 1/8 call. These dogs are the ones that will set the pace of the race for the rest of the dogs. It doesn’t matter, at this point, if they can hold on to win, the venue or the show.

Now, look at their times in their last races where they broke. If he sees that those times are much faster than the other dogs’ times, he knows that they will take the lead and keep him, at least until the 1/8 call. This does not mean that they will win the race, because there are other factors that must be taken into account.
