These get a “bark rating” out of 10 of our dogs!
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups of Flour (white or wheat)
2/3 cup rolled oats (Quaker oats work best)
¼ cup wheat germ
½ cup brewer’s yeast
¼ cup canola oil
¼ cup honey (you can substitute molasses
1 cup of water
¾ cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat the oven to 350º. Combine dry ingredients using only 2 cups of
the flour.
Add the oil, honey, and water until well blended. On a floured surface, with your knees
in last ½ cup of flour until well blended. Unroll
with a floured rolling pin ¼” thick. Cut with a small
bone shaped cookie cutter Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 12 to 14
minutes. Cookies are not propagated, so they can be placed together. Remove
immediately from skillet to a cooling rack lined with paper towels.
Once all the cookies have been baked, return all the cookies to a cookie sheet.
(you can place them one on top of the other, if necessary). turn off the oven,
and return all the dog biscuits to the oven. Let stand in the cooling oven for
at least 2 ½ hours, but preferably overnight for crunch
bones. Don’t worry, they won’t burn! Stored in a sealed container. Make
7 – 9 dozen dog biscuits, depending on the size of your cookie cutter.
A batch lasts us about a month and they keep well during that time.
