World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King is the latest expansion to the hugely popular MMORPG. If you’ve played WoW before, you know that there are some places and creatures that are scarier and more dangerous than others. Such is the case of one of the Northrend zones, the new setting for the latest WoW expansion. Home to the fierce and cunning Dakkaris and various other ferocious creatures, the Zul’Drak area of the Wrath of the Lich King is one of the most dangerous areas in all of Northrend. People only go to Zul’Drak if they have a truly important reason for going there, if they want to gain an audience with the Dakarris and their leader, Frost King Malakk, or if they want to test the limits of their strength. Other than that, Zul’drak should be avoided, because failing to do so usually means death.

Why is Zul’Drak so feared by almost everyone in Northrend? Why is this land of ice and thick forests so universally avoided? The reason for this is, as I mentioned earlier, because of the creatures that reside in the area. The Drakkaris call the land their homeland. His race is the most populous in the valley, and the Zul’Drak area of Wrath of the Lich King is filled with rough dwellings of the Drakkari race. Drakkaris travel through the valley and surrounding areas in search of prey. Anyone would do, be it a lost traveler or an enemy. Also, anyone can get caught up in a battle between one Dakarris tribe and another. The race is constantly fighting each other and getting caught in one of their skirmishes could mean that Zul’drak will be your graveyard as well. There are also wolves, windingos, and even the occasional furbolg that can be found in the area. Not only that, the promise of a Scourge invasion is ever present in the land.

Zul’Drak, as of the present, is also filled with Drakkari who have gone mad after they sacrificed their precious animal gods on the altar as a means of preventing a Scourge invasion. The Argent Dawn, the law of Azeroth and the organization fighting evil will travel to Zul’Drak to try to solve the problem. In the latest expansion, the Wrath of the Lich King Zul’Drak area will appear to be a fully open-air area similar to Shadowmoon Valley.

There’s still a lot to know about Zul’Drak, and there may be something in this area that’s useful to you, but if you want to be cautious, avoid the area entirely. If you want to go north or south of Northrend, you don’t need to go through Zul’Drak. You can choose to go through Grizzly Hills for this. However, if you want to test your daring, go ahead. You might find something there that everyone has missed.
