There are definitely more than ten questions to ask yourself before joining Herbalife as a distributor, but I’ll focus on the ten that I think are the most important and can be applied to any potential network marketing business opportunity you have. Looking to. I do not intend to answer the questions, that is something you should discuss with the person who presented you with the opportunity. I want you to be well informed before participating because too many people join a company and then realize that it was not a good fit for them. Make sure you are aware of these things!

Question 1: Is there a real product that can be sold to the general public? MLM companies are heavily controlled by the people and the government to make sure they are not illegal pyramid schemes. There has to be a product and the product has to be sold to customers. If only your company’s distributors are purchasing products, you should look elsewhere for a business opportunity.

Question 2: Do you get a bonus for recruiting people? Obviously, when you look at network marketing, you have to attract people to your business to make a lot of money. If you didn’t, you would truly be a glorified salesperson of the company rather than a business owner. Question 2 is complicated because obviously they are going to pay you to bring people to the company, but it is not the act of bringing them that pays you, it is the sale of a product. If you get paid to have someone sign up for your business, you should look elsewhere!

Question 3: Who owns the business and what is its track record? The leaders of your company need to know what they are doing. If they are not good entrepreneurs, their success may be short-lived. You don’t want to build a large organization for yourself only to have the business shut down because of a shady deal or something that’s beyond your control. By finding the answer to this question, you can really start with a good company.

Question 4 – Do the business owners have specific experience with MLM? You may not think this is a big deal, but it really is. I have personal experience with this. The last network marketing company I was involved with was doing very well. I build a substantial business only to have their MLM operations shut down. They gave all the distributors a 30 day notice and said have a good life, we will no longer pay you. Out of nowhere, this company took a major source of income because the leaders of the company were from corporate America and did not know the ins and outs of MLM. It is a very different world.

Question 5 – Do you have enough capital? If your business has been around for a while, you may not even need to ask this. For example, a company like Herbalife is really not going anywhere. This question really needs to be addressed in startups. If you are looking for a start-up company, did they start with 100% debt and will they ever get out of that debt, or will they be closed in a year?

Question 6 – How much does it cost to join? I suppose you already know the answer to this question, but I would like to go a little further. Remember, when you join a network marketing company, you are basically buying a business. You can be your own boss! Herbalife has been around for a long time and obviously it’s hard to join. That is not bad. Actually, there are companies that claim that you can join for free and earn thousands of dollars in just a few months. I just don’t see that as a possibility. To join a successful company, you must expect some initial cost. Imagine if you were starting your own business from scratch.

Question 7: Do you have to purchase a minimum quantity of product each month to maintain your downline? There are some compensation plans that require you to buy a ton of product just to stay active. If you don’t, you will clean up your downline and you will have to start over. That doesn’t seem fair to me. You can make the decision for yourself, but I suggest you find out about the company’s compensation plan BEFORE you join. It should be clearly posted and easy to read. If not, you may have a problem.

Question 8: Does the company tell you who they are in advance? If it is difficult to find information about a company, you have a problem! With the way the internet is, if you can’t find something, or if all you find is bad publicity, you probably have a problem. Any problem like that and I would speak to the person trying to bring it up and find out what they have to say.

Question 9: Is the compensation plan easy to read and understand? If not, you may be missing key information. Again, this is something that you will want to discuss in great detail with your sponsor BEFORE you join the company.

Question 10: Does the company provide you with the training and marketing you need to be successful? For most companies, the answer to this question is NO. You have to create your own success and once you join in, it’s up to you. You have to market it yourself, you have to sell it yourself, and you have to build it yourself. It can be done, but you may need to connect to a third-party marketing system.

If you were able to get satisfactory answers to questions 1 through 9, you can be sure that you are getting involved with a good company. I wish you all the success in the world! If there were any discrepancies, I would suggest running in the other direction! Ultimately, it is up to you. Question 10 is really up to you! If you want to be successful in MLM, you need a business coach and a duplicatable system to help you achieve your goals. You must learn how to market your business both online and offline. You need to create a list and bookmark yourself. All of that is outside the scope of this article, but be sure to follow the information at the end of this article if you have questions.
