Many women have discovered the wonderful products that Spanx and Assets Shapewear Company produces. Although both manufacturers produce slimming shapewear that are adept at getting the job done, there are differences between the two companies that can influence a woman’s preference for one company over another.

Price
The first difference exists in the price. Assets Shapewear is a brand owned by Spanx Company that offers a cheaper and more affordable version of Spanx Shapewear. Spanx offers an extensive line of products for women. This line includes full body shapers, bras and briefs, swimwear, pantyhose, leggings, and shapewear for men. Assets mainly offers pantyhose, leggings, body shapers of different styles and briefs. Intrinsically, Spanx garments are more expensive. For example, its Super Power Panties retail for about $30, while a comparable Assets garment, Unbelievable Underwear, retails for half that price.

Quality
There is also truth to the old adage, “You get what you pay for,” which brings up the second difference between the two lines: quality. For most women, the quality and construction of a garment will be the primary factor in determining the brand of product they choose. It makes a cheaper expense to make a one-time investment in a more expensive product, like Spanx, than to invest in a cheaper product that would have to be continually replaced. Spanx garments tend to be constructed from materials such as nylon, lycra, spandex, elastic, and mesh.

On the other hand, Assets products are created from nylon and cotton. These are the same materials used in control top pantyhose. The cotton material in each different product line allows the piece to “breathe”; thus, ensuring the comfort of its wearer. In general, the construction of Spanx garments is believed to be more effective in contouring and smoothing the silhouette of a woman’s body, because the materials from which it is created are less flexible than the materials used in Assets shapewear. The construction of the garment will invariably influence its effectiveness in performing its intended task.

What do customer reviews say?
If a woman is not familiar with the shapewear offered by either company, reading professional and consumer reviews of both companies’ products will allow her to determine the effectiveness and quality of a garment from the experiences of others. In general, women found both types of hosiery and other thin garments created by these companies to be comfortable to wear. There were a handful of consumers who had issues with their Spanx stockings ripping or tearing after a limited number of wears. For the price they paid for the item, the quality was expected to be somewhat higher. However, most consumers overwhelmingly agreed that Spanx garments were very adept at creating a sleeker silhouette on their figures. More importantly, these slimming shapewear stayed in place throughout the day and through a variety of activities, ensuring that the item would not “fall down,” slip, or have to be readjusted.

The main complaint against Assets Shapewear from consumers was that it did not provide enough of a noticeable difference in their figures to justify their purchase. Although most admitted that it slightly softened their figures, the same difference could be achieved by wearing control top pantyhose. Nice aspects of Assets Shapewear included its ability to be finish dyed, its durability, and the variety of color options.
