If you’re as excited as I am about World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, then you better know as much about the game as you can. I’m sure you’ve religiously searched the internet for the latest updates on the expansion’s new world, new characters, and new gameplays. However, you may have missed a new addition to the WoW expansion that is sure to make that gamer in you smile with excitement. This feature I’m talking about is called champions, and it’s WoW’s way of making sure that all your actions, especially those related to faction fighting, are rewarded appropriately and enormously. If you want to know how this new feature works, keep reading below!

What is?

The new feature looks brand new, and no other WoW game has had it before. An exclusive to the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, defending is definitely something to get excited about. This feature will allow a player to gain reputation just by wearing a certain faction’s tabard when participating in a dungeon. However, there are certain limitations. Reputation is only gained through this feature if the player is in a level 80 dungeon or if the player is in a heroic dungeon.

How does it work?

In the previous games, tabards, or faction signs or banners, could only be obtained when you were at exalted level. However, this time around, to make this new feature available to more players, tabards are available at the friendly level. The thing to note is that reputation can NOT be earned without wearing a tabard, no matter which faction you are affiliated with or no matter which dungeon you play. It also seems that this new feature does not work for factions that belong to previous games. There are even some new factions where the new feature is not available. Below is the reported list of factions where defense works and which doesn’t.

New Wrath of the Lich King factions with new reputation gain feature:

* Silver Crusade

*Kirin Tor

* Knights of the Ebon Sword

* The Wyrmrest Accord

New factions without the champions feature:

*Frenzyheart Tribe

* The Oracles

* The Kalu’ak

* The Sons of Hodir

When trying to earn reputation, keep in mind that heroic dungeons offer more. For example, bosses in heroic dungeons grant at least five times more reputation compared to non-heroic dungeons. However, the heroic dungeons are also much more difficult. So you better balance the two, or if you want to get bad rep, make sure you have the right gear or armor. Here are my tips for now regarding the new feature of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. I’m sure you’ll get to play it anyway. If you have any tips to share, send them my way!
