I am going to explain my greyhound handicap system. I focus mainly on ES or early speed. Open a results table from any greyhound track and you will see that the dog that gets to the call first 1/8th will end up in the winning position or in place more than 80% of the time. No other factor comes close. This is only 1 factor and you need to consider other factors like late speed, class, time – I use daily track variants like Beyer speed figures for horse racing. I did the math and did my own calculations to calculate this factor and post the position. Each of these factors must be calculated for each track at each distance and each slope. It sounds like a lot of work and the truth is that it is. But it is because of this hard work that 99% of the public will not put in the time and effort to do this. You don’t have to do all that work for this method to work for you. You have to be good enough to pick the dog that can take the lead on the race track of your choice.

Let’s go back to factor #1: ES (early speed). Let’s say there are 15 races on a card for your race track. You will most likely only find a few playable races. A playable race is one where you KNOW (although you can never know 100%) that a certain greyhound will take the lead. For example, an inside runner from an inside post position. For this example we will use frame #2. You look and you see this dog can snap and if he takes it he will hang on to win or win. Now he must look at the positions of the adjacent posts and, hopefully, no running style conflicts will be found, such as that no. #1 opens wide or #1. #3 has a habit of breaking inwards. So we have found that dog 1 breaks slowly and dog 3 is also slow and runs outside. It seems that no other dog of said breed can pass his dog n. 2 until turn. Well, you just found a playable race. I usually find on a 15 race card that I can play 2-4 races. You must have the discipline not to bet on the other races. Only bet on those where you know you have the advantage. Pass in all other races. All that being said, I focus on weeding out the 2 worst dogs of the breed and choosing 2 other dogs, one of which will make money. I then use my trifecta bet method like so:

The 1 represents my dog Key. 2 and 3 are options 2 and 3. etc.

$1 Three-Part Wheels 1/23/23456 $8 1/456/23 $6 1/23/23456 $8 456/1/23 $6 This is a total of $28 per run. I have listed on my website my picks and results and the current winning percentage which is 71.4%. If you can hit more than 20% of your trifectas, you’ll make money, at least with this system. The hardest part is choosing the key dog. The second most difficult is to choose 2 dogs so they don’t end up in the trifecta and for me the easiest is to choose 2 other dogs of which only one of them has to show at least. That’s how I handicap and I bet. I post random picks, usually for the Palm Beach Kennel Club. So far I have always been able to submit my free picks before Saturday night for the Sunday race card.
