Dog training is necessary for all dogs. Big or small, there is no difference. My father has a dog; It is a large and undisciplined dog. The reasons for this are multiple: the dog has a difficult past (he was abandoned in a parking lot on a highway when he was less than a year old), there are no grandchildren around who could be spoiled, and the dog obviously looks a lot like the dog he had. my father as a child.

Fortunately, this large dog seems to have a gentle attitude towards children; when meeting very young children, he immediately lies on his stomach, sniffing carefully in the direction of the child, avoiding everything to scare the little ones. This dog is definitely not aggressive, but he is a pain in the neck. My son is almost three years old and visiting my parents is very exhausting: I cannot relax for a minute.

The dog is a little taller than my son and my son is uncomfortable when this big dog comes up to him and tries to lick his whole face. My father proudly exclaims that this is proof that the dog likes children, but I can understand that a big, smelly tongue all over the face is not a pleasant experience. As a result, my son runs away, followed by the dog and a mother trying to catch the dog or her child, whichever is easier to catch. I have told my father hundreds of times that the dog must stop if he tells him, but the only one who has authority over the dog is the little old cat: countless times he had scratched the dog’s nose and lived in the house a lot. Before the dog was born, the cat had no intention of giving up its superior position in the family.

The dog does not intentionally bite or try to hurt people, but it is large and clumsy and therefore can be dangerous. One day my father was sitting in a small chair in the garden, picking berries. Suddenly his dog came running, jumped on him, they both fell and rolled on the grass. The dog wanted to play and thought it was a great time to surprise my father and have fun. Unfortunately, at the time my father was recovering from difficult back surgery and rolling around in the grass with a large dog on his back wasn’t exactly the therapy the doctor was thinking of. No harm was done, but I think after this incident, it was my mother who finally put her foot down.

Now my father is training the dog and you can see the first results. There is still room for improvement, but now it’s more relaxing to be around. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the dog fully trained. The dog also seems to enjoy the training and I can only encourage all dog owners to train their “best friend”.
