The 10.1-inch Motorola XOOM tablet has a 10.1-inch capacitive screen with a 1280x800p resolution. It has been incorporated with the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system and is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual-core processor. It has been endowed with a 5MP HD camera along with a front camera. It has features such as accelerometer, gyroscope and, of course, Adobe Flash 10.1 Player compatibility. The Motorola XOOM 10.1-inch tablet supports 3G and 4G networks, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It offers a 32 GB flash memory and a 1 GB RAM capacity and a USB port.

Motorola has set the bar high by launching the Motorola Xoom tablet. It has the ability to give Apple’s iPad stiff competition. Being the first tablet to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which is an operating system specially designed for tablets, it has surely become our favorite. We loved the widgets that are highly customizable and an extensive intuitive notification scheme. With a gorgeous display, a dual-core processor, and honeycomb Android 3.0, it’s sure to hit all the high notes. Does it really deliver or is it just a mere exaggeration? Let’s find out.

The Xoom has a 10.1-inch screen that is a little over 9.8-inches for iPad. While the Xoom is designed for landscape views, Apple’s iPad is better in portrait view. Its manufacturers have done their best to distinguish itself from the rest of the tablets on the market by making small differences that work both for and against. The titanium back plate is quite impressive and adds a touch of elegance to its appearance. The USB and HDMI port are present at the bottom and the top houses a headphone jack along with a Micro SD and SIM card slot. The power button along with the speakers are located on the back. Xoom sets itself apart from other Android devices in design, as it lacks buttons on the front. One thing that could have been better in its design is that the rear camera lens is only slightly away from the body, increasing the chances of it being easily scratched.

First things first: it is equipped with a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and has several widgets for email, Twitter and other applications. We are very impressed with its fast internet browser and some features like Google Map5, which also allows 3D maps. A 5 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash is another desirable feature. The screen is capacitive, although we are a bit disappointed, as it was not as responsive as we expected. For a portable device, the stereo speakers aren’t all bad, but they face the opposite side of the device, so the sound quality is somewhat compromised. It supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. You can also connect it to your TV through the HDMI port.

Honeycomb acts quite similar to Froyo, which is Android 2.2. The difference from mobile Android is that Honeycomb makes it easy for its users to copy shortcuts to a single home screen. It also promises impressive scaling and 3D effects when operating multiple programs. Some users will definitely find it very intriguing to use due to the availability of numerous options and the flexibility it offers, while others will find it difficult to use due to its increased complexity.
